• Energy Plants: 1085 (30 curated, 1055 imported)
• Data Centers: 879 (102 curated, 777 imported)

Editorially curated records (descriptions, impact, subtype) always take priority over automatic candidates. Imports combine WRI (all IT plants + EU ≥ 100 MW) and OSM data centers in the EU area; OSM cloud campuses are classified as hyperscale. Near-duplicates are merged without overwriting curated records. Supply chain (raw_materials + connections): only corridors documented in data/curated/, with required certainty; powers without a PPA stay inferred/likely. Context overlays (grid, water stress, cables) are off by default. Settlement proximity (Lombardy MVP): distance to ISTAT municipal centroid, not exact in-radius population.

Read certainty criteria and sources

• WRI Global Power Plant Database — CC BY 4.0 Imported plants with medium confidence; editorially curated records take priority.
• OpenStreetMap (Overpass API) — ODbL 1.0 Tag telecom=data_center; low confidence. Cloud-operator campuses classified as hyperscale via name/operator heuristics.
• Open Infrastructure Map (rete elettrica) — ODbL 1.0 Transmission lines from OpenStreetMap via OpenInfraMap vector tiles.
• WRI Aqueduct 4.0 — stress idrico (bacini) — CC BY 4.0 Baseline water stress on HydroBASINS L6 sub-basins (not administrative borders). Shows local variation within Italian regions.
• Cavi sottomarini (estratto storico TeleGeography) — CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 Non-commercial historical dataset; routes and landings in Europe. Not updated in real time.
• Confini regioni italiane (ISTAT / Openpolis) — CC BY 4.0 Simplified geometries used to temporarily highlight an Italian region from place search (not a permanent overlay).
• Comuni Lombardia — centroidi e popolazione (ISTAT 2021) — CC BY 4.0 Proximity MVP: municipalities ≥1,000 residents with centroid (Open Data Sicilia / ISTAT). Shown on data-center click in Lombardy.
